Greenfield Pendragon

I am a believer in fate and at the time I was looking for a ram for our girls, Pendragon’s owner was looking for a new home for this lovely lad. He was everything we wanted….great temperament, nicely put together, he’s a big boy. He is from the prestigious Mansel bloodlines. He has proven himself in the showring, in 2014 he was the best Male and overall Rare Breed Champion at the North Devon Show; in 2015 he was judged Best male and Reserve Champion in the Rare Breed class at Okehampton, and in 2016 he was Best Male and Reserve Champion at North Devon again . To handle he is a joy, he has done everything we have asked and expected, and he is very happy in his new home. He does get spoiled with the girls too which he doesn’t seem to object, but he still has great manners.

We bred him with our 6 original girls in autumn 2016 and are thrilled with the lambs their combinations have produced.

As you may have read earlier, my previous knowledge lies with horses, and so as it is with horses it is the job of a good sire to improve the offspring quality from the females, so I am really pleased that Pendragon has done exactly that.

He is going to breed with most, but not quite all our Coloured Ryelands in autumn 2017.  He is also going to be used as a terminal sire on our white North Country Cheviots, so I am equally as excited to see this combination.

Pendragons pet name is now Ramiro!
