Filling the gap!

Life has been so hectic over the past year or so I have to admit to not keeping our Smeafield Coloured Ryeland website up to date.  I have been on the County Show Circuit with Ryeland Spirits and Ewellery, being everywhere from the Highland Show in Scotland to the Royal Welsh, Great Yorkshire, to Devon and everywhere in between.

We have showed our Smeafield Coloured Ryeland flock last year, although not so many shows as the previous year, I was equally proud of our woolly team.  Our biggest achievement was with our star boy Gizmo (aka Smeafield Xowie) winning Champion Ryeland at Dorset County and was overall Reserve Champion.

And so we were all set to get back in the showring this year.  The show sheep were sheared in January ready for show season but then of course Covid 19 appeared and has put an end to all of that.  So they are all chilling in the field and enjoying a year off.

The flock is now split between two farms in Devon and also in the New Forest, although numbers are decreasing in Devon and increasing in the New Forest.

We of course launched Ryeland Spirits in May 2019 which has been so exciting.  People love our iconic bottles and branding, and especially our smooth spirits.  You can find our more at www.ryelandspirits.co.uk

So I’m going to bridge the gap with a few posts of photos from the past year and from now on will be back on it keeping the Smeafield Coloured Ryelands website up to date.
