2018 Lambing

We started lambing on Feb 12th when Winnie gave birth to Arthur aka Smeafield Yeti Bear.  He was very vocal from the start.

The next arrivals were twin Black North Country Cheviots out of Humble who we named Austria & AlnwickLambing continued until mid May.

We had a traumatic loss of Baaaabaras again despite being in the vets very quickly after birth….that was a sad loss and brought back the painful memories of our gorgeous Precious from last year.

So our flock started with 7 and this year we increased rapidly in numbers to 51.

As I do it all on my own, I hadn’t actually appreciated how much broken sleep would affect me.  So my alarm was set for every hour and a half through the night every, so I’d wake up, look at monitor and if anything was lambing I’d then go down to barn and deliver the new lambs into the world.

I safely delivered a lot of lambs from our Coloured Ryelands, Black North Country Cheviots and White X-bred ryelands & cheviots safely into the world, most were pretty much on time on their due date.

And we had one Cesarean delivery – our gorgeous Gucci, Gizmos first offspring.  She wasn’t in a good way when first brought into the world but the vets brought her back to life, and she is a stunner.
