Lucky Sheep – Black North Country Cheviots

This is one of our black North Country Cheviot ram lambs.

Of course the Coloured Ryelands are my favourites but I do love these rare Black North Country Cheviot sheep too.  They are so different from the Coloured Ryelands, they are opposite in almost every way.

I love their fleeces, with short shiny & silky head hair & their noble nose!

They are considered to be lucky, especially if there is a black one in the harsh winter snow – helps the shepherd find his flock as the black one stands out.

This boy I think I will keep on and use him next year, he is a real character with a nice temperament.
